XYZ - Contemporary California meets French provincial at this culinary hot spot overlooking Third Street. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. A SoMa favorite of foodies, XYZ offers a a changing selection that includes a chef’s tasting menu, and main courses made with regional ingredients. These might include hominy cakes with tomato salsa and creme fraiche, oven-roasted Fulton Valley chicken, spring greens ravioli, or fennel-cured beef tenderloin. Décor includes soaring ceilings, plush booths, and portholes of colored glass along one wall.

Getting there: Passengers arriving at either airport can board Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and ride it to the Montgomery Street station, three blocks from the hotel, for less than $5. Shuttle service is also available at a cost of $5-$15, and taxi service is available for more than $36. Rental cars are available online.

Getting around: The W hotel is located within walking distance of many area attractions, and San Francisco has an excellent transit systems. (Parking in the city, however, is expensive and hard to find). The MUNI system offers routes throughout the city and includes electric streetcars, cable cars, trolleys, buses, and light rail. A MUNI bus stop is located two blocks from the hotel, and a cable car stop is five blocks away. All-day and three-day MUNI passes, valid for unlimited travel and transfers, cost $5–$15.

The BART rail system provides access to much of the Bay Area, including Berkeley and Oakland. The Montgomery Street BART station is three blocks from the W hotel. Taxis are also available. The CalTrain commuter train operates between San Francisco in the north to Gilroy in the south, and a CalTrain station is a half-mile from the hotel.

Driving directions from San Francisco International Airport: Exit the airport and take US-101 N toward San Francisco. Bear right onto I-80 E toward the Bay Bridge. Take the 4th St exit, and then continue straight through the traffic light onto Bryant St. Go two blocks on Bryant St. Turn left onto 2nd St and go three blocks. Turn left onto Howard St, and hotel is two blocks on right.

Driving directions from Oakland International Airport: Exit the airport on Hegenberger Rd. Take I-880 N toward Oakland. Take I-80 W / San Francisco / Bay Bridge, crossing over the Bay Bridge. Take the Fremont St exit, and then continue on Fremont St for one block. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Howard St and W hotel is two blocks on right.
