Max''s on the Square - Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Max''s specializes in hearty American favorites and deli sandwiches such as pastrami and corned beef. Located off the lobby, with windows along the street, the restaurant features original Art Deco architectural columns and wall sconces, plus black lacquer tabletops, rich red ceiling tiles, and custard-yellow walls. Guests eat at booths and standalone tables. The modest bar, with stained-glass details, has leather stools and a top-shelf liquor selection.

Getting around: Walking is a popular way of getting around at any hour. San Francisco’s MUNI system offers routes throughout the city and includes electric streetcars, cable cars, trolleys, buses, and light rail. Bus and cable car stops are within one block of the hotel. All-day and three-day MUNI passes both cost between $5–$15 and are valid for unlimited travel and transfers. Fee subject to change without notice. The BART rail system provides access to much of the Bay Area, including Berkeley and Oakland; the Powell St BART station is three blocks from the hotel. Taxis are also available. Plentiful alternative transportation makes renting a car unnecessary, and parking in the city is generally scarce and expensive. For travel to outlying areas guests can rent a car for the day.
Driving directions from San Francisco International Airport: Exit the airport and take US-101 N toward San Francisco. Bear right onto I-80 toward the Bay Bridge. Take the 4th St exit, and then continue straight through the traffic light onto Bryant St. Go one block on Bryant St. Turn left onto 3rd St and proceed about five blocks, crossing Market St. 3rd St crosses Market St and becomes Kearney St. After crossing Market St, make an immediate soft left turn onto Geary St, and hotel is five blocks on right.

Turn right onto 3rd St and proceed three blocks, crossing Market St. 3rd St crosses Market St and becomes Kearney St. After crossing Market St, make an immediate soft left turn onto Geary St, and hotel is five blocks on right.
