Getting there: Bay Area Rapid Transit (less than $5 each way) runs directly from both airports to the Montgomery Street Station, a half-mile from the hotel. From there, guests can catch walk or catch a taxi to the hotel. Shuttle service from either airport costs $5–$15; taxis are more than $36. Rental cars are available online.

Getting around: Walking is a popular way to explore San Francisco, and many shops, theaters, and restaurants are just steps from the hotel. San Francisco’s MUNI system operates throughout the city and includes electric streetcars, cable cars, vintage trolleys, buses, and light rail. A cable-car stop is less than two blocks from the hotel. All-day and three-day MUNI passes cost $5–$15 and are valid for unlimited travel and transfers. The BART rail system provides access to much of the Bay Area, including Berkeley and Oakland; the Montgomery Street BART station is a half-mile from the hotel. Taxis are also available. Plentiful alternative transportation makes renting a car unnecessary, and parking in the city is generally scarce and expensive. For travel to outlying areas, guests can rent a car for the day or take a tour.

Driving directions from San Francisco International Airport: Exit the airport and take US-101 N toward San Francisco. Bear right onto I-80 heading toward the Bay Bridge. Take the 4th St exit, and then continue onto Bryant St. Proceed one block on Bryant St. Turn left onto 3rd St and proceed about four blocks to Market St. When 3rd St crosses Market St, it becomes Kearny St. Continue on Kearney St for two blocks. Turn left onto Sutter St, and hotel is four blocks on right.

Metropolitan Oakland International Airport (OAK): Approximate driving time to the Hotel Rex is 40 minutes and distance is 18 miles.

Driving directions from Metropolitan Oakland International Airport: Exit the airport on Hegenberger Rd. Take I-880 N toward Oakland. Take I-80 W / San Francisco / Bay Bridge, crossing over the Bay Bridge. Take the Fremont St exit, and then continue straight onto Fremont St for about four blocks to Market St. When Fremont St crosses Market St, it becomes Front St. Continue on Front St for one block. Turn left onto Pine St and proceed seven blocks. Turn left onto Powell St and proceed two blocks. Turn right onto Sutter St, and hotel is less than one block on right.
