Dining at the The Grosvenor House Hotel

The Park Room - This brasserie-style restaurant is divided into three distinct sections. The formal dining room overlooks Hyde Park through floor-to-ceiling windows; the more casual lounge area is furnished with soft sofas and armchairs, and the snug library has walnut paneling, Persian rugs, vermillion sofas, and a grand piano. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served from a modern European menu, and afternoon tea is available in the library.

Red Bar - With red-lacquered walls, mirrored columns, candelabra sconces, and a richly colored Asian tapestry, this bar offers a sophisticated-yet-relaxed 1930s atmosphere. Framed black-and-white photos highlight historic events at the hotel, and seating is at leather banquettes and armchairs. Drinks only, from late morning until early morning.

La Terrazza - Salmon-pink walls, mirrored columns, milk-glass ceiling lamps, and potted palms give this split-level restaurant an art-deco feel. The less formal lower section features green banquettes and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Hyde Park. Open for breakfast only.

The Grosvenor House is located on Park Lane on the east side of Hyde Park. Express trains serve both airports into the center of London, for transfers to taxis or the Underground (subway). The closest Underground station is Marble Arch. Taxis are best hailed with the assistance of the porter.

Although parking facilities are nearby, there are heavy fines for drivers who forget to pay new tolls for driving into central London. Traffic is difficult even for the seasoned driver. Best bet: taxis or the Underground.
