Entertainment
The highlight of the remodel is the new Voodoo Lounge staircase, designed by Marnell Architecture. Connecting the Voodoo Lounge with the lower level Voodoo Café, this new architectural element is a sinuous, winding staircase featuring platforms for go-go dancers on either side; a deejay booth, and a special seating area right on the staircase. The open ironwork railing incorporates a number of intricate metal voodoo carvings symbolizing love, sex, and money; the staircase is open to the sky from top to bottom.
Three times in the afternoon and four times at night, gaudy Brazilian-style Carnaval floats suspended from ceiling tracks swing through the two-story Masquerade Village shopping/dining arcade and above the casino. Called Masquerade Show in the Sky, the extravaganza features performers dancing in the floats and tossing bead necklaces to spectators while a band plays Latin beats on a stage below. For a fee, spectators can ride in the float parade.
