Cairo International Airport (CAI): Approximate driving time is 35 minutes and distance is 20 kilometres (13 miles).
Black and white taxis are available from the airport to central Cairo. They leave from outside the Arrivals hall. The minimum fare is about 12 USD. Buses are available from the airport to central Cairo.
One of the best way to explore Cairo is by the new Metro system. It is very inexpensive and not too crowded. But, buses and minibuses are still the most common form of transport for Cairenes, although taxis are a better option for visitors. Boats depart frequently for University, a landing over on the Giza side of the river. Every second boat continues south to Manial, Rhoda, Giza and Masr al-Qadima (old Cairo).
