One of the best way to explore Cairo is by the new Metro system. It is very inexpensive and not too crowded. But, buses and minibuses are still the most common form of transport for Cairenes, although taxis are a better option for visitors. Boats depart frequently for University, a landing over on the Giza side of the river. Every second boat continues south to Manial, Rhoda, Giza and Masr al-Qadima (old Cairo).
